Mr Husam Ebied is a consultant surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals, specialising in managing hernias of all types, abdominal wall problems and complex reconstruction.

He regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

Biography

Mr Husam Ebied is a consultant general surgeon with a special interest in complex abdominal wall reconstruction, abdominal wall hernias and benign biliary disease.

He originally graduated from Ain Shams University Medical School in in Cairo, Egypt in 1999 with honours. He then completed his advanced surgery training in the UK as a senior clinical fellow at Liverpool, Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent and Barts Health with special interest in upper gastrointestinal and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

He also spent three years at Guy’s and St Thomas’, the South East regional unit for upper gastro-oesophageal surgery, where he was trained in all aspects of upper gastrointestinal disease.

He was granted his MSc and MD, after which he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and was appointed as a consultant surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in September 2017.


Research

Mr Ebied has had multiple peer reviewed publications and national and international presentations. His research has a special focus on biliary diseases and abdominal wall hernias.

He is a core member of the complex hernia multi-disciplinary team and the acute management of gallstones cases.
