Clinical expertise

Dr Sujeev Mathur is a consultant paediatric cardiologist who established and leads the paediatric cardiac CT imaging service at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

Sujeev works closely with the paediatric neurology team to diagnose and manage cardiac muscle involvement in muscular dystrophies. He established and leads the unique cardio-oncology service at the Royal Marsden Hospital, to monitor cardiac function in children treated for cancer.

He performs treatments such as:

  • diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease
  • echocardiography (including advanced and trans-oesophageal)
  • cardiac CT scans
  • cardiac MRI
  • diagnosis and management of aortopathy
  • diagnosis and management of cardiomyopathy (inherited and acquired forms)


Biography

Sujeev’s undergraduate and early postgraduate training was at the University of Health Sciences, India. In 2000, he started his training in the UK and passed the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) in 2002.

His sub-speciality training in cardiac imaging (both advanced echocardiography and cardiac MRI) was at Evelina London from 2009 to 2011. Sujeev was appointed as a locum consultant in paediatric cardiology at Evelina London in 2011, and to the substantive consultant post in 2013.


Research

Sujeev’s clinic interests include dose reduction strategies in congenital cardiac CT, novel imaging sequences in cardiac MRI and anthracycline cardiomyopathy. He also specialises in diagnosis and management of inherited cardiac conditions including cardiomyopathy and aortopathy.
