Dr Shumontha Dev specialises in all aspects of emergency care including minor and major illnesses and resuscitation.

He regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

  • minor and major illnesses
  • trauma (minor and major within an emergency department)
  • resuscitation

He performs treatments such as:

  • advanced life support
  • trauma care
  • general emergency management of patients


Biography

Dr Shumontha Dev is a consultant in emergency medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals.

He received his MB BS from University College London in 1995, before being awarded a fellowship of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine in 2007. He was also awarded the Expert Witness Certificate from the University of Cardiff in collaboration with Bond Solon in 2009.

Shumontha is well regarded for his general expert opinion and second opinion on general clinical conditions.


Research

Alongside his clinical work in emergency medicine, Shumontha has been involved in medical education, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a deputy director of medical education. He is also the lead foundation training programme director for the trust and a honorary senior lecturer at the medical school, King’s College London. He is a clinical and educational supervisor to medical students and trainees of all grades.

He is an examiner for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and regularly examines for both written and OSCE examinations.

Dr Shumontha Dev’s medico-legal work include dealing with personal injuries (trips and falls) and clinical negligence.
