Donor treatments and treatments for same sex couples
Treatment with donor sperm is available if you are heterosexual, a same sex couple or a single woman. It can be either carried out by intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in-vitro fertilisation (IVF/ICSI).
Sperm donors can be known or anonymous.
Known donors might be friends or relatives who may wish to donate. We offer implications counselling to a known donor and their partner to ensure they are both comfortable with the process.
If you opt to use anonymous donors, we work with a number of independent sperm banks both abroad and in the UK. We will give you the list, as well as the information about ordering the samples you require.
Associated donor organisations
We work with a selection of donor organisations and advise patients to explore their options and find an organisation that suits them.
One of the organisations we work in partnership with is Altrui, which provides a coordinated approach to egg donation treatment provided in the UK. Altrui specialises in finding and looking after altruistic egg donors – taking great care to make the process as easy as possible and as rewarding an experience for everyone, including donors, recipients, and the Altrui and clinic teams. Altrui has over 25 years’ experience working with fertility and first-hand knowledge and understanding of exactly what is involved for recipients and donors.
