Dedicated ophthalmologists offering exceptional care
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is a specialist ophthalmology centre. It means we can offer a wide range of interventions, from relatively simple outpatient procedures to highly complex operations requiring specialist facilities.
Our team of ophthalmologists have many clinical interests. These include vitreoretinal surgery (for example, retinal detachment and the correction of vitreous haemorrhage), cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery (such as trabeculectomy, aqueous shunts, implants), squint correction, and eyelid surgery (ptosis and blepharoplasty).
We can arrange for you to be seen by a male or female consultant, and some of our consultants are fluent in languages other than English, including:
- Mandarin Chinese
You’ll be in experienced hands across the board. Our wider NHS team supports our consultants and includes highly experienced specialist nurses, orthoptists, optometrists and technicians. Full details of our consultant ophthalmologists can be found here.
You are assured of best practice and clinical excellence, whoever you’re seeing. Our consultants and their supporting teams are all also part of the NHS team and are subject to the NHS clinical governance standards. Our staff follow approved clinical guidelines and policies to make sure the care we provide is aligned with best practice. We also run regular clinical audits to measure our clinical outcomes.
