Tom Williamson is a vitreoretinal surgeon and performs all vitreoretinal procedures and cataract surgery.
Tom has over 23 years’ experience in vitreoretinal surgery. His book, entitled ‘Vitreoretinal Surgery’ is the premier text for training in vitreoretinal surgery internationally.
Tom has over 170 publications on clinical topics in vitreoretinal surgery and ophthalmology, making him one of the premier opinions in vitreoretinal surgery internationally. He has the largest single surgeon dataset of vitreoretinal procedures (with over 10,000 operations) in the UK.
Patients attend his practice from all over the world, including Europe, USA, China, Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.
Tom performs investigations to determine ways of maximizing success rates and reducing complication rates of complex surgery and he is in demand as an international lecturer on this subject. He has also applied computational modeling systems in the investigation of diagnosis and surgical management of the retina.

Tom Williamson graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1984 and trained in ophthalmology in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Cambridge and London.
He has had many training leadership positions and is currently President of the British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons.
