Miss Elfy Chevretton has worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ since 1993 when first appointed as a head and neck surgeon. In 1997 she developed a dedicated multidisciplinary voice service for a wide variety of voice problems, which is supported by phono-surgery and laryngeal framework surgery. Elfy has developed the laryngology department (voice, airway and swallowing) which now comprises two consultants, a laryngology fellow, six speech and language therapists (SLT) and a vocal coach.
She continues to encourage and train medical students and junior doctors in clinical work, audit and research in order to advance the speciality. She was the lead in ENT education at Guy’s and St Thomas’ for 23 years and a clinical advisor to Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine. She is both a clinical and educational supervisor engaging fully in the ISCP process. She continues to be an MRCS examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons.
Elfy ran a biannual national ENT clinical meeting called the ‘Semon’ Club for 23 years, one of the oldest and a prestigious national meeting for trainees.
Elfy has written over 40 articles and a large number of abstracts published in peer reviewed journals and authored three book chapters in major ENT texts.
